I need some ideas for escapeproofing a large tank. Problem is, I use 4 AC 110s and a wet dry with an overflow for filtration (the tank is not drilled). While sealing the openings around the filters with duct tape is easy, I can't figure out how to cover the overflows on the filters themselves, since these are in constant contact with water. Any pointers?

I use all glass tops and in the ones i bought they provide this flap like thing that is slid on the glass. If you could get your hands on something like that you could probably modify it to prevent any escapes.

Eggcrate is the best way to go for sealing around filters and overflows IMO.

eggcrate or fiberglass screening

So the answer is to simply cut plastic "lip" that comes with tank hoods in a way that it will be real close around the filters? What about fish escaping into the output of the HOB (AC110s) filters? How about wet-dry intake?

I used glass, pieces overlap and are weighted down with rocks(silver aros and tiretrack eel) I even have rocks on top of the filterlids. My TT eel still managed to escape into a penguin 350 filter though.

I lost a ropefish this way in the past.
Openings around the filters were tight, but it went up the spillway of an AC, flopped out onto the glass top, and baked in the sun (lights).
I wonder if there had been space along the back if he would have wiggled his way back in.

What if I managed to cover the outlets of the ACs with a fine plastic mesh or something? This way water could still flow through but nothing cold climb into the filter... Your thoughts?
