I do have the bin covered with a lid, it's one of those rubbermaid containers that you buy at walmart that come with a lid. Somebody told me that one way to prevent them from escaping is to put a damp piece of cardboard over the peat moss so I guess I'm going to have to see how that ends up working. Thanks for all the help.

yes you can use cardboard or newspaper or even shredded paper but it must be kept moist and they will love it.I hope you have air holes also?

UPDATE: I added a piece of damp cardboard to the top of the bin and it has kept the worms from climbing the sides. I will add pictures ASAP, just need to get new batteries for my camera.
