Alright my Zaliosus's pop eye is extremely bad now and his water has been perfect 0ppm ammonia 0 nitites and 5 ppm nitrate. I also have been treating him with Salt, high water temp 85, daily doses of Melafix and a large air wand. He hasn't been getting any better, but infact getting worse. He got it from wacking his head on the heater and now has parasites and leisions on him. I don't want him to suffer anymore so what is a humane way to euthanize fish besides freezing him?
Put him in a bucket of ice water

There are similar threads like this, debating on the most humane ways to euthanize fish. there is no humane, guilt-free way to euthanize your pet, but sometimes its gotta be done.
2 of the best methods IMHO-
submersing them in clove oil,
or submersing them in EXTREMELY hot water.

Im not too keen on bagging up my fish and slamming them into a wall, or other insideous, barbaric ways of killing fish. I get no pleasure from smashing a fish to death, and for those who do smash fish to euthanize, I strongly advise you to seek other methods to put your fish down.

i'm sure no one gets pleasure out of killing their beloved fish. it is in fact a quick effective way of putting them out of their misery. i agree there may be better ways of doing it, but that does not make it wrong.

of course its not wrong, you are entitled to do whatever you would like with your fish.
I'm just noting that smashing fish is the least appealing method, to me, to deal with a suffering fish.

I go with blunt force, it has always had 100% result with in minimal time. Trust me, I take no pleasure in killing any of my fish. I don't laugh and jump up and down in enjoyment, I cringe and fell sick when I do it. This is not because i think its barbaric but cause I am taking my pets life and no matter how I do it, it would make me feel sick.

BTW, if I had a choice of being boiled alive or being hit by a truck with instant death I'd pick the truck any day.

When I put my jag down I used Clove Oil. I put him in a bucket, Dosed the clove oil, and he was belly up in about 3 seconds. There was no thrashing, strange noises, or blunt force. His gills stopped moving and he floated over. After that I put him in the freezer in case I didn't actually overdose him.

You can get clove oil from GNC IIRC.

Well i have been giving it many chances to heal but it's just not happening and the eye is not the problem anymore it's the parasites and stuff. His whole socket looks to be rotting and he has a leision on his gill plate. Where do I get Clove Oil?

Clove oil is sold for toothaches at any pharmacy or walmart
