sorry to here

Trouble is finding a black in the UK ain't easy or any aro for that matter. And the ones that are available are 3 hours drive away n I don't wanna risk them being in a bag or box that long. Are all arid except silver and blacks really aggressive or could I get a red

I would go with a red if I had the choice :)

Sorry for your loss. My aro has recently started doing a lil jumping. I have 6 ziploc bags of sand on the lid to hopefully prevent just a accident.
My red is super mean, Id try another type of asian aro.
Not all reds are mean though

sorry or your loss man, i also lost mine that way....silvers are strong jumpers...my aro died when it hit the cover of the tank...my tank cover is actually a piece of plywood with thick phone books on top and she hit the cover so hard that she knocked 3 of the 6 books to the floor....this kind of problems with aros have troubled me since i was in high school il try do do some designs for aro tanks and post them here when i finish doing it.....

I wouldn't worry too much about a silver attacking the other fish as much as other fish hurting the silver. I usually have semi to very aggressive tanks, but since I started raising arowana's I've gone wimpy on tankmates. Balas, angel fish, loaches, sonodontis. You know what I mean. They don't seem interested in fighting, just eating. Then I may just have docile silvers. Each seem to have their own personality. One takes food from my hand, the other won't eat if I'm too close to the tank.

very sorry for your loss.. i have a 2x4x 16ft long board on mine.. i know how strong they are when they jump..
