Even with it running its still a problem

I have a 2262 in just a 180G (6ftx2ftx2ft) and the current is not too strong at all. usually I have the spray bar on, but when I pull that off the current is much weaker. Perhaps you could put more fine polishing media in the top of canister. the real fine stuff can slow the flow somewhat.
Quick connect valves can be turned to dial down the flow too ( as much or little as desired). I do it with a 2217, in my 40B qt tank during feedings so my baby archers can eat off the surface without food getting blown about & wasted. that's easier than reaching inside and turning the outflow in a different direction every time.

I fixed it turned it to the side and it just has a high current corner, and to above yea, i though 10 ft of blue foam pad and 4 liters of pond matrix would cover it, thing is massive so next clean out I plan on more pads and bio

Or build a spray bar aiming directly at the glass.
