Damn, that sucks! Why did it split?

i was young and naive and had a HUGE bad ass lookin rock resting against the back glass. i guess over time it just had too much pressure from the weight of the rock and the water combined and the silicone gave out. it sucked big time. but they all durvived with no ill effects so i got lucky. and lucky for everyone else i still had a shower in my other bathroom so i didnt have to go without while they were in the tub

My best freind Dan picked up a 29 almost completely full thinking he could move it accross his bedroom. Tank broke as soon as he got it up and he flooded his little ass room.

OMG.. Dan must be a strong dude too. I cracked a 75 once but never busted a tank.
Tank lids are a different story.

Cracked the centre brace in two on my 450l tank the other day whilst it was full to the brim. Luckily the sides didnt blow out! Worse thing was that the filtration on this tank uses a corner overflow, to stop the possibility of the sides splitting I wanted to run it just half full until I could repair it, but then the filtration will not work, so I had to rig some external bracing to support the sides whilst I repaired the center brace with the tank still full of water! Seeing that it takes about 3 days for the silicon to cure properly I was just waiting to wake up one night to the sound of water rushing across the living room floor and fish flipping about all over the place!

the center brace should be plastic so drill holes in the brace and find something like wood or metal to fit under the brace.. then bolt the brace to the piece to hold it together..

Nah mines glass, thats why it split in two, I had a MH light too close it, it got too hot and I was catching a fish to relocate it, dripped some water from the net on the hot centre brace and *CRACK* :WHOA:

I've siliconed a couple of strips of glass across the crack for the moment which will hold it. I plan on re-scaping this tank over Xmas so I'll replace the whole piece of glass then with a new piece ;)

man that sucks.. i had to repair a back panel that pulled apart on a full glass tank.. the stand was cut off and it was twisted.. the tank only had about 7" of water when i found it.. i fixed it cause it was my 105gallon. and recut the stand.
