ever get the urge to change things up?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do have that urge to try something new but I don't touch my main display tank so I keep a 40B around for experiment, it's not too big nor too small so switching to anything is easy enough.

I get this a lot! Its really annoying sometime, I flit between com tanks and species only tanks. I have spend the last 8-9 months getting my 220g predator comm tank up and running well. But now I am kind of fed up with the worry of them all getting along, the expensive feeding and the twice weekly water changes and I am once again being seduced by the allure of a single fish set up. If I go for it it will be either a Dovii or an Arowana.. But I know after 6-9 months I will be thinking of tank mates again! Lol its a vicious and expensive cycle lol

Everyday I think "that would be cool to try" lol. I have another couple voices in my head that always say no, my wife and my wallet
Hahaha I can relate. Luckily my wife is pretty cool about it all, but definitely likes to harass me about the money spent lol.

I've sustained some accidents over the years to forced me to start over. Had the large tig, dat, clown loach community. Problem is that I am attracted to fish that for some reason grow very slow...such as clown loaches, plecos etc. Just feels like there is little progress or change...stagnant without much accomplishment. And I only have one tank. But my morays are growing nicely.

My advice, keep the loaches, they age like fine wine. Get another tank to experiment with.

Kind of in the same boat. I tend to gravitate toward slow growing fish as well.
I don't really have the space to get another tank at this point. Perhaps next spring when we are finished renovating our upstairs I could do something small up there, but I really like the ease of having only one tank.

I get the urge almost weekly however I view my fish as pets and not a hobby so unless a fish is in danger I keep them for life. I'm down to 3 tanks and that is more than enough for me at this point in my life so when I find a new direction I try to find fish that will work both in my current and future and slowly transition over the years. Currently my main tank has clown loaches, we, sa cichlids and datnoids but I'm tempted to go back to a simple geophagus tank.

Yeah, while I certainly try to give the best care I can, I typically view my fish as more of a hobby than pets. I suppose my clowns are the first that have really crossed that line to being pets and that's why it's difficult for me to decide to go another direction.

right now i am just going to buy a whole bunch more fish for my 70, see who behaves and that will dictate who stays. i am also changing the scape till it looks acceptable :)

right now i have 2 african knives, a feather syno (will probably rid him) and a pink chalceus.

I want to get:
-firemouths
-leopard ctenpoma
-swordtails
-african butterfly fish
-blue acara.

Ill have those updates in 3-4 weeks when i go to the lfs

I got a 40B saltwater with only 1x Peacock Mantis Shrimp in it, I had her for 2+ years :P and I'm thinking to make that 40B a freshwater for pictus catfish but sunday water change routine is holding me back...I hate doing water change period :P
