Quarantine Tank
So I was admiring a very large stone Buddha statue and commented to my friend about how awesome it would look in my new 360g. tank. He wasnt very happy with the idea. We then began a discussion about if and how it would be offensive to a Buddhist to see this. He also questioned me about how I would feel if somebody put the Virgin Mary and Sweet 5lb. 8oz. Baby Jesus (Sorry movie reference, stars for anybody who knows the movie?!?) in his tank. FYI Im not a Buddhist but Catholic by birth and guilt.

So heres are my questions to ponder....

Would you change you tank decor for a friend if they were offended by the decor or tell them to deal with it?

Would you be offended if somebody put a figure of your GOD in their fish tank?

Im especially interested in what our buddhist members think since the Buddha statue is more typically displayed rather than the Virgin Mary etc....

:)

It might be different for a true buddist as I don't know anything about that religion. But for most hardcore christians if someone was to have a mini-jesus in their tank(even if that person was non-christian) they wouldn't care I wouldn't think because in christian religion it seems to be more about spreading the message and jesus is depicted in so much commericalized stuff already.

That said I think budda ornaments are cool but know little about what it's about. And wouldn't be offended if someone buddist rocked a mini-jesus in their tank because they thought it was cool.

In fact I used to have a buddist friend that sorta celebrated christmas.. not the holiday itself but the gift-giving/spirit..

i wouldn't change anything. its my tank. and as a friend, you shouldn't be offended. if ur a random person, kick rox

I wouldn't change it. If someone would see it and get mad. I probably would laugh and call them an idiot. I would probably say more than just an idiot, but I'm censoring myself. I think the world today cares way too much of what others think. People should just grow a pair and get over it.

What's the difference between a buddah statue sitting next to a koi pond, and one in with the fish? It's a better view for Siddhartha I imagine. :)
