ouch man!!!!!! a 50.7 inch pike!!!!!!! holy $#@#!!! if that had happened to me, i would have broken my pole in half and tossed it in the lake. i then would preceed to toss all my fishing tackle in the lack. ripped my liscense in half and thrown it in the lake. i then would have sat down and cried. lol that big of a fish i would have probably not fished the whole summer :(

Yeah, that sucks. That is one huge pike. Good catch, bad luck.

fisherman thing.

as stated in the the rules of being a fisherman, fish that get away- always seem to gain alot of weight as they get away...

Redefining maturity, eh? I would have fished as much as possible to catch him or a larger specimen.

Double in weight once they get away. Add two inches and a pound with each telling of the story. For example, Man you should have seen my 7 foot largemouth bass! That monster must've weighed 80 pounds!

A couple of years ago in Lake in the Woods, had a nice perch (14+") got it close to the boat and a big pike came up and hammered it. I had a fight w/it for about 2 minutes when it broke off. And by break off, I mean halved the perch.
