So if you have what did you notice to your shock .

not sure if this counts, but I recall when I was a youngster adding a bunch of inappropriate fish into my first 20 gal...fish like elephantnose, bgk, etc

wheni was 12 we had a lfs a block away from my house i set up a 10 gallon tank with internal filter and 10 african cichlids and couldnt fig out why the water got cloudy and they died who would have thought right oh well beginer mistake at very young age children need more supervision lol

I have always wanted a elephantnose but very hard to look after and expensive.

Also one thing i think also i did wrong was adding sharp rocks with a mental case fish .

I remeber being a kid and wanting it because of how cool it looked to me, but I wasn't prepared for a fish with specific demands like that, such as the feeding and substrate requirements...back then it was flakes as food and regular gravel regardless of the fish :wall:

For me, not knowing about the whole process of cycling. I try to explain it to people now and I get that blank stare.

lol you jsut reminded my cus asked about tropical tank thing when i started to talk about cycle he was just like ummm what the hell you say

My first year of fish keeping I didn't even know what stress coat was. And when I got a 20 gallon I thought I had a HUGE tank. I mean, why would you ever need more than a 20 gallon tank...

I have another "fishkeeping" friend that stll thinks fish will grow to the size of the tank....and it's OK!:irked:

I had a 20 gallon tank that had 4 convicts, 2 angels, 3 albino cories, and a pleco.

That tank lasted about 6 months.
