looking to get another big dog whithin a year and am wondering if anybody has any experience with irish wolfhounds? ive owned a great dane so im familiar with very large dogs and thier requirements but am drawn to the wolfhound. my best dog ever was a german shepherd and am needing to decide between the shepherd and wolfhound.

well if you have two choose between the 2 get a GSD. I would want a Newfoundland over a wolfhound but thats my oppinion I guess.

Irish WOlfhounds are really tall, long dogs....I have seen these at a dog show long time ago and fell in love...INstead, my family chose a Giant Snauzer....Unless you have a big yard, the I.Wolfhound is not the dog for you(or anyone)....These guys are miniture horses and love open space....Between the I.W. and German SHepard, I would have to vote for the German SHep:thumbsup:.....

I would love to own a wolfhound. I have owned various large breeds. Great Dane, Fila Brasilero, American Bulldog. There are things that go with having large breeds but if you have owned a Dane you should be well versed in those.

Currently I have a Mastiff that crossed with a Mountain Cur. It is the most incredible beast of a dog. Very athletic. Very intelligent.

Get the hound more differnt GSD o wow i have never seen a GSD before -_- hound is better as long as you have room and sounds like you know what you are talking about so get the hound.

one of my best friends had a Irish Wolfhound when we were in school. It was the coolest dog, very gentle, very calm.

Irish Wolfhound will have similar requirments to your dane. Since Dane is actually Irish Wolfhound x Mastiff.

I would go Irish Wolfhound because you don't see them often and well I'd love to have one myself. But realize it's a dog with much longer hair that has to be kept in check.
