I think even a 55g is way small for a single O. You'll be doing water changes every other day no matter how much filtration you have. Oscars grow sooo fast too. It doesn't make sense to buy a gow out tank for an O, because you'll have to buy a larger tank before you know it.
A 75g is good for a single O, but bigger is always better. They are active swimmers, and love space.

I'd go with at least a 55 for now, and even though far from ideal, one in a 55 can be done although not recommended.
