all these fish breed readily, aussie lungs r now for sale in petshops, and it may be a big breeding ground but have a look in all the other dams and rivers there are tonnes of lungs, i catch like 3 a session they are annoying to catch besides the fight.
mary river cod are making a comback , in the wild and in captivity as they get stocked into our dams, sothere wouldnt be a major problem with stocks.
the turtle is the only one i would be worryed about.
this could be beneficial to the fish and turtles if thus goes ahead, its more of a trial and error, but if it did happen i recon it would be fine.
im not gonna sign the petition thing, as i think another dam would be great with water supply and fishing in the coming years, as i am a major fisherman.
i dont care if i get flamed

Get everyone to write letters instead. There are a few web sites solely dedicated to this situation and a also few sympathetic politicians as well.
To throw further information on the subject, Neoceratodus forsteri (Queensland lungfish) is not in any danger of extinction any more. In fact, even when it was declared as endangered it wasnt in any danger ... they simply couldnt find any juveniles and the governement back then assumed the worst. Now we understand their breeding cycle better, government studies have actually verified them as abundant. As most MFK people know, they are readily available for export nowadays. Neoceratodus forsteri is very easily breed and it wont be long before they will be easily and cheaply available from Asian fish farms. I am able to easily collect thousands of eggs each and every year if I wished to from numerous places they have been deliberately introduced to. Since your from Brisbane, most of the major dams (all?) have spawning adult lungfish polulations now.
Similarly the Mary Cod is spawning naturally in captivity and Australia Zoo is also spawning the Mary River Turtle successfully. The real problem is loss of habbitat. Where do all the juvenile lungfish, cod and turtles go? I am wondering if this super dam might actually be a good thing for these species?

A petition on a website signed by a high population of overseas citizens has absolutely no sway in the matter, quit wasting your time.
