EVERYONE'S FIRST TANK!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My first tank was a bucket to house goldfish that I won from the fair 20 years ago. And I housed them in that bucket for a year before my parents decided to buy me a 10 gallon fish tank.

mine was 10g, no lid, no filter, no light. I caught baby bream at the park and kept them. I would have to carry the tank to the backyard 3-4times a week to dump the stinky green water.

my first "private" tank was a 100+ gallon...i only filled it halfway tho...it had a small tilapia and a few gambusia....practice tank..lawl

Not sure if I did it right (attaching a picture) but my first tank was a bowl. I used to take out the goldfish and put a book on it to see if he could lift it. I was 5 or 6. Then my parents got me a 29 gallon for my 11th birthday. Had a severum, a dempsey, a firemouth, a bullhead cat, and various other fish together and alone for the next few years. After I got married, it became a terrarium. Then back to fish, a planted tank, saltwater ... all over time in the same 29. About 12 or so years ago I got a 75 (which is the picture I tried attaching) which went from planted to Malawi, to Central American cichlids where it is today. For a couple years I had three 10 gallon tanks stacked on a homemade stand with sponge filters. One had Nannacara anomala, one had those little Bumblebee fish, and one had Harlequin Rasbora. Would have loved to have more tanks and bigger ones but the wife kept getting pregnant.

i dont' have any pictures of my first tank but it was about two years ago and it was a 10 gallon with a cap lights and filter, i had 5 paroon sharks in it ( idk what i was thinking, i was only 13 ) and a flowerhorn. what was i thinking .. haha

mine was a ten gallon with gold fish in it then i put blue gill after they died that was a smart one but now i have a 55 with red bellys in it and a twenty with a oscar

my first tank was glass fish bowl. it contained one minnow, that my friend caught on a fishing trip.(he actually kept some bass too in a pool in his back yard)
as you can tell i was very young when i had this tank so there are no pics. the fish died one day when it jumped out of the bowl, my mom thought it was a boger and through it in the trash.

I want to make a MONSTER thread with everyone's first tank.

Give me a time-machine so that I can travel back 30 years to take a pic :D

my first was a 29g with a small oscar. it was suuper plain with sand, and a castle i had the oscar for only 2 years-ish, then kept the empty tank in garage, now im using it again
