Evidence of NLS superiority?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
NLS is better than Hikari. Enough said. If a food that has MSG as one of the ingredients, well.. you can judge all on your own.

imo opinion fish genetics and water changes are way more important in fish health imo. look at mel o meras fish he feeds bio gold + and krill to most all his fish and they have the most rediculous colors out there but i think its mainly from his frequent water changes fish genetics and tank sizes. i really want to try nls though caus eit seems everyone uses it on here and now petco carries it.

I have yet to get a fish to eat Hikari Gold. I threw away the the bag! I could care less how "nutricious" this stuff is. Well over 100 different fish and nothing would touch the "junk".

I OBVIOUSLY must have somehow gotten a "bad" package of the stuff from Petsmart. It was a fully sealed package and did not have any overtly foul smell when I opened it. I have never had said issues with Omega-1 or NLS.

I would NEVER but Hikari again until they made right this "bad batch" I purchased. That is NOT one of the "14 day guarantee" items at Petsmart. They do not take responsibility for Hikari's poor quality control!

I really do NOT think that the "batch" was bad. I think that my fish believe that the Hikari product is the equillivant of what comes out of their rectums when they eat REAL pellet food.

i have noticed no difference between nls which i currently feed. i use to feed kens food products which i was told was cheap stuff from a feed farm. ive fed the kens food for along time then swithched and bought a couple 5 pound buckets of nls and fed that for along time and notice no difference. if the ingredients of nls are better for the fish then great but besides that as far as size or color i think there overhyped. thats my op and im entitled to it so no need for someone to start an argument. lot of peeps dont like to feed live food which is fine because you have no risk of parrisites but ive got a nice creek by me thats packed with rosie sized minnows that i pack my tanks with while there around and i find my fish to put on more bulk when they can eat as much as they want. minnows have less nutrients then pellets but the quanity they pack down puts more size on mine. once the minnows are gone i go back to pellets for a few days then pack with minnows again. i can do this for about 1.5 months then the minnows are scarce. from then on its nls and krill. im going to stick with the nls just for the fact that some of they members on here that disect the feeds know more then me when it comes to feed and if they say its better for the fish then kens feed farm stuff then that good enough for me.

Many years ago I used to think variety was the best diet so I bought a smorgasbord of different pellets. I had to throw away quite a few pellets due to the fish not eating them.

Then I went exclusively NLS for a while with everything except my Tig and Dats who would get Massivore. Now that they're gone, I started feeding 50/50 NLS and Omega One to everyone except the Festae who won't touch the Omega One pellets. But they do get Massivore a few times a week until I go thru the four or five more bags of it in the freezer. They go bananas for Massivore and only casually eat NLS.

HE IS LYING HE FEEDS PUPPY CHOW AND LITTLE DEBBIES TO HIS FISH! LMAOOO !!!
JUST KIDDING BALTON...MAN HOW YA BEEN DOING? THAT FESTAE IS BANGING!

My kelberi loves the hikari cichlid bio gold + but he will not touch krill. He does eat an occaisional hikari floating carnivore stick but turns his nose to it when bio gold is in the water.

I also tried massivore and he would spit it out for some reason.

Once I run out of my foods I will try NLS

I have had really good results feeding fresh veggies and fruit. Get one of those T.V. vegetable chopping things and cut them down to the size of the food they are used to eating. All my fish LOVE broccoli tops. Spinach is also popular. Cucumbers and squash dont last long either. They all seem to brighten up with a steady fresh menu. We also use Hikari pellets. I have tried lots of different food over the years and just like what I see when I use what I use.
