Adults don't fly - I've never had any issues...at first I had a thermometer inside that was digital and the meal worms found a way to climb up the probes wire - but i you're careful nothing will happen.

any suggestions on how to keep them through the winter? weather here isnt as nice as where you are all the time.

Get yourself a cobra heat pad or somthing similar, they already produce a lot of heat because they're decomposers, and the oatmeal acts as an insulator.

Just tape the heat pad underneath the rubbermaid with insulator tape you buy from Home Depot and you're good to go - I believe cobra's raise the temperature inside up to 6-8 degrees from what the room temp. is.

Keep in mind mealworms can be put into a fridge and they'll just start to hibernate - the cold won't kill them so long as they don't freeze to death, and I'm fairly certain they can survive conditions far past what a human can stand, so if you keep them inside they should be fine.

meal worms are great i was just discussing theese with a local reputable breeder buddy he swears by them good thread!

This is interesting. I might try these one I get my oscar tank going.

Was going to buy some today but cant find any locally :(

How about some pic's of your setup. I need to visualize this. I was giong to do something like this with red worms but there is the chance of getting other insect infestations in your house so I backed down.

I need to get a new keyboard - the computer with my card reader has a busted keyboard - I'll get pics up as soon as it's replaced.

It's really as simple as going to WalMart, picking up one of their 3 tier rubbermaid drawer's, filling the top drawer up with oatmeal and dumping the meal worms in.

Ozz - check out lllreptile.com they're in San Diego and prices aren't bad - somth'n like $20.00 for 500 adults and that includes shipping.
