Excited about possible cross

they will be nothing special. but they will waste your time to satisfy your curiousity

There's no way to know what sort of recessive genetic grab bag you're going to open up. The mother is downright gorgeous and dad is no joke either. In my opinion you should get some very interesting results with that pair.-- That's just my opinion animal guy is just as likely to be right. Either way curiosity must be satisfied or why bother having one.

There should be a few cool fish in there, but a lot that will need to be culled...I dont see that platinum showing up in F1, maybe if you bred one of the nicer fry back to the platinum, you may see a few in F2, but that turns into a giant project...its a crap shoot in f1, they are all going to look similar minus a small percentage of winners...go for it and see.

I agree. I saw brothers of the mother and they were down right ugly Cons with big bulbus faces like nics but awkward. But I think I have so good looking fish so I might get a few good looking ones and the others may have to culled. If this happens I may have to open up my other tank to see what I get.

Completely agree.

Sounds good man. I really like the parent fish. Like said, you won't get any with the fathers colour but you maye get them form the F2. Good luck man. How big is the female btw?

Female is between 3.5-4" eyeballing
Male is about 4.5".

I may have been excited about nothing they have both abandoned the "nest". They are back to normal behavior. I wonder if my L200 pleco snagged the eggs or a baby HRPxCon hybrid that darts in and out of there so he may have gotten to them he is the fastest fish I have ever seen. He is 1" and was born in this tank and the only survivor I can't catch him for anything. Maybe there were no eggs at all I can't see into the nest area. Oh well. Still hoping it happens.
