EXCITED! My New Black Aro!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can see my old 22" big black arow. You can see the body is not as deep and the seem to have a less pronounced face. Under the same light my silvers had different colors. as well. Their scales will still have a very slight tint of blueish hue to them as well. the fins will still have blue so that is the easiest way to tell. Silvers fins are eiather pinkish or drab gray

Not that I am doubting you, buy how can you tell? I'm using this as an opportunity to learn now. I just assumed it was a black because of the black colored fins. Either way I still love it:D :headbang2

Big Silvers are still nice. IMO I like big silver better than blacks. Big black from personal experiences from my own fish and my friend's fishes. they look like a weak malnorished silver and don't look as impressive.

I was just proud of myself for what i thought was a "rare catch" lol. I still think $100 for a silver of that size isnt too shibby:)

Actually my black arow was labeled silver too. I got it for an even bigger steal. The fish was in BC, Canada and was all beaten and torn to shreds almost half dead. owner had it in a 40G tank. The fish didn't look like it was really going to make it but. I saw the price tag. $60CAN( Apprpox $50.85). at this time I thoight it was a big silver and kept looking and looking at it. Something told me that it's not a silver. I could barely make it out as almost all the fins were gone. Torn up by whatever fish that beat it. So I took the chance, bought it, brought it back down to the USA and raised back to health. When the fins started growing out again......I was sure it was a Black :)

that small aro is toast soon

It's a nice looking fish. I'd be proud to own it regardless if it is silver when you thought it was a black.

Nice arowana in england it cost £30 (about $62) for a 6 inch black arowana. so very nice steal in my opinion.
