Yes very clever fish :)

When I had him crammed in the 220, he messed up a lot of fish but that we expected, which is why he doesn't have many tank mates now. I gave him a clam but he couldn't open it, he tried and tried. For now he just eats frozen shrimp.

You need to let them keep trying the more they practise the stronger their jaws get and they work out certain ways to o get into them really does.file.their teeth down.
 
180 G enough? Think they'd mess with some catfish or a decent size cichlid?

Mine have always been fine with catfish and cichlids. This one even eats pellets as he lives with frontosas and got used to their food so have to keep him occupied with a clam while.I.feed them or he eats everything before the other fish can get to them. 180g will be ok up to around 18" as long as it's at least 24" front to back?
