I've recently purchased a small shoal of exodon (plan on adding more when my bigger tank is ready and adding them all at once. I have been doing research on them and I read that you can add other fish besides exodons so long as they're shiny, they suggested scaleless fish however. ANYWAY, I was wondering if this were true and if so what would be some examples besides perhaps loaches.

I kept them with many different fish, Others opinions may differ but I had no issue with anything other than small scaled fish, shape has no impact. I had two Cudas striped of scales over night and dead.

I was thinking about using them as dithers for my jaguar pair (idc if they eat most or all the fry) but is this a bad idea as long as I keep them all well fed?

My exodons picked on my bumblebee grouper and their scales are not shiny at all...

I'm fine if a few get picked off here and there as my LFS constantly has them in. I just don't want my jaguar being shredded. I just think they're so fast that he wouldn't get too many too quickly. Plus he's not big enough to eat any of them whole yet...

They don't pick off here and there. They single out a fish, and will pick the fish naked! However, if you keep them well fed like you stated/proposed, it may work out
