but. i say to hell with the rules. if youre able to provide them with more then enough filtration and keep up on WC, you can definitely do more then that.

IMO and from my experiences with exo's if you stick to the 1'' per gallon rule it will end in disaster for atleast a few of the exo's. The 1'' rule would be say 2 exo's in a 10g, and that would become 1 exo in a 10g within a week or so. LOL

closer to 6 in a 10g actually. which would work out fine. unless of course you end up with larger ones shipped to your lfs, in which case, you cant huse them in a 10g. they shoiuld be in a group of 6-10 MINIMUM. so your theory is wrong. sorry.

like i said. if you have enough filtration, you can pack them in there. however, most people aren't willing to do the necessary upkeep on a crowded tank, hence the "rules". i for one have never followed the rules, and between my tanks, i have well over 100 exodons.

I think you have totally misunderstood what i was trying to get out. I originally said that the normal rules can not be followed with exodon's. Because if you followed the 1'' per gallon rule it would end in disaster. That is whay I stated the rule of thumb that i have allways heard with exo's. Which is half as many exo's as you have gallons. Like 5 exo's to a 10g, or 10 exo's to a 20g ,etc,etc. i said you can take the normal rules and throw them out the window. Then you stated that the rule is 1'' per gallon, but then said to hell with the rules. Meaning that is the rule, but you do not follow it. the normal rule can and should be followed with exodons. please try to understand this. your statement that the normal rules can not be followed is not only false but irresponsible.

the rule is 1 square inch per gal. so numbers cant even be a factor, as when you buy them from the lfs they will be all different sizes. also, they should be kept in a shoal of no less then 10 impo, so 5 to a 10g is wrong. also, 60 in a 120w would not be the minimum due to the footprint and size of the tank, so that theory is wrong again.

these guidelines are set for novice keepers, and others who may not understand things like aggression and bioload with these fish (or fish in general). sure, you COULD pack 30 of them into a 10g tank, but be prepared to pay for tons of food and 5x as much filtration as that 10g would normally need.

while they do well in an "overcrowded" tank, or "overstocked" by nrrmal standards, it doesn not mean that its a good idea to just grab a grip of them and stuff them into a tiny tank. there are many other factors that need to be accounted for, and not everyone understands all of that, hence the "rules".
