exodon tank rescape

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want them sooo bad!!! They look amazing with that tank setup, nice work!

Agreed, probably the most impressive school of tetras I've ever seen! :D Say, would you mind posting a feeding video? ;)

That is a miracle that the other fish survived! I thought that exodons would eat practicaly anything if they are kept in sufficient numbers to attack it. I think I saw your tank on youtube, but it might have been a different one.

i have 2 exodon tanks (i had 3 but im down to 2 now. all 3 can probably be found on youtube)
its no miracle. if you know what youre doing, its pretty easy to keep certain tank mates.
ottos and corys (along with fire tetras, and a couple of other fish) are gathered in the same places as exodons and they live together just fine in the wild. and if you do it properly, they can be kept in a captive environment as well.
of course, if you were to just drop an otto or cory in an exodon tank, it would either be eaten, killed, or stredded to death. certain precautions need to be taken when attempting an community with exodons. but its definitely possible.

Looking good. But I will advise to try and plant all the different plants.

For example the red plants [I think they are Alternanthera rosaefolia, they need loads of light and I think these are grown above water so they will need time to settle in] in post 6 of this thread, picture 3, are 10 plants stuck into one place, wich will not give them the room and light to grow properly.

Plant the stalks separatly with about an inch apart to give some room for growth, instead of all the stalks together.

Make groups or rows, with wich you need to make shure the rows always curl there ways towards the back...anyway, check this to get some inspiration. Just cut the plants more often when they start to grow (always with a sharp knife, never with your fingers, you will crush the internal structure and the plant will not grow or need a lot of time to recover).
