Exodons in a 10?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can do what you want. It's just going to be very crammed with 10 of them in there. A lot of people don't realize they need to be kept in big groups. Even then, some will get killed sometimes. If you really have your heart set on it, get 10 as small as you can find then maybe you can upgrade to a 20 in the future. I hate to be the dream shatterer lol

Ill use my judgement. The conditions in the store stocking wise will be the same if not worse than my tank so ill see how their doing there in the cramped quarters and make my decision.

from what I know about predatory schooling fish ...I would try a 40b for a small
school,,or even a 55:popcorn:

I have personally seen a school of 4" exodons, they look amazing at that size. That being said, I think a 10 gallon tank would be way too small for any number of exos once they get any amount of size on them. They need room to get away from each other, as well as something like driftwood/plants to break up lines of sight. They are scale eaters by nature, and would more than likely beat each other to death in a 10 gallon tank.

If you can get a larger tank, I say go for it. If not, you probably want to look into a different species for now. Sorry to be a debbie downer :)

He'll probably do it anyway. Never learns.

So I guess I should have bought that 11" oscar my local fish store had in a 10gallon tank into my 15 gallon tank.

Listen anyone who have kept these long term will tell you they need space to swim. They are extremely fast and always active. In my opinion, they should be kept in shoals of 16 exodons and up minimum. Ideally they should be in a 5 ft tank. They are beautiful fish and highly enjoyable as long as you give them the space to "run".

Not trying to be d**k but seriously man, please stick to guppies or a beta in that 10 gallon tank.

No way you can do this. Need 5 gallons per adult fish, they will rip each other apart. Need to be kept 10+

Really? That would mean you can only put 5 of them in a 50 gallon tank:screwy:
