a few years back I kept them for over a year with verious African Cichlids with no issues but they did kill a few smaller young CA Cichlids in their time. Currently I have just aquired a new shoal of 26 young one's and am keeping them with a school of young clown loaches with also no problems. I figured this would be a go because most loaches can be kept with most agrressive cichlids with no issues at all and are very out going in nature! To my suprise no only did it work but both the shoal and school of loaches and exodon's like to school together it's very interesting to watch. you could keep a group of 10 in a 20g, but you will need to increase your filtration and WC accordingly.
"traditionally" it is best to stick to a 30g minimum for a group of 10.
yeah ill get these guys later in life im 18 in college and still live with my parents however my gf loves fish to and we plan on having a fish tank filled house so if/when we move in together enter exodon 29g
