So where is it at? I'd like to see what progress has been made, and what your setup is like. Anyone breeding plecos, from BN all the way up to the hypostomus luteus! I know we have an L200 breeding project, as well as an L239, L260x2 breeding projects. What else? Those that have the L239 and L260 breeding projects I'd really like to hear from you what your doing for the guys to prepare for the future kids...

Well right now I'm trying to convince my Royals to do the duty. So far all that I've noticed is alot of chasing away. Sometimes they are close to eachother sometimes they fight. Still unsure if I have a pair. Even after attempting to vent them. I have just been doing daily 30% tap water changes. This week I'm going to try using RO water. If that doesn't work I'm going to try using water from my water softner. I'm also working on breeding my lepoard frogs, clown plecos. Tomarrow i'm recieving my big shipment of plecos. 3 more lepoard frogs (from a different breeder) 4 flash panque, 3 sultan's, 2 hypan sp., and another gold nuggett. I'm hoping to eventually breed all of them. As far as what I'm feeding, Broccoli, zucchini, sweet potatoe, jumbo coctail shrimp, ocean perch, hikiri carnivore pellets, hbh flake food, frozen blood worms, frozen krill, cyclops ease, brine shrimp, pellet food used in many zoos, and hikiri algae wafers. Tank temp right now is 76 degrees from 81. Upped the the power head flow also. Hopefully I'll get some sort of reaction. The water changes have sent my rainbow fish into a breeding frenzy, but I'm having a hard time telling if the plecos are doing anything. It seems like some of the male plecos have picked a cave, and are awating a female. Any thoughts/comments?

other than the advice in the other thread, not much more to say but keep trying. after a period of time, you will have to go back to the dry period and try again. sometimes the trigger wont work. everytime you try the wet and dry seasons you can slightly change each attempt (like length, amount of water changes, another degree drop or up in temp etc etc) i would keep a list of all these alterations so you can remember them all and know what youve changed/what too change etc. i also still think it might help your chances if they were in seperate tanks (or at least same genus tanks), or were they, i cant remember?

o and it is a good thing if they are choosing hides. maybe they'll try wooing the females next ;)

In this game, it's all about tweaking minor things to find the right combinations. Make sure to take down all stats, temps, params (including KH and GH), waterchange amounts and frequencies, length of time in wet/dry seasons, foods, all that good stuff. This will help anyone else that want to take a try, and also it will help to keep a journal of the stats for each attempt, so you can have record for the next round. Keep in mind also that some species are seasonal breeders, and will only breed for one time a year. Such as corydoras sterbai, which my friend is breeding, and only breeds during out fall and part of winter.

if they are fussy, i know a lot of people do this with snake breeding, you could also look up weather forecasts etc in particular areas and try to duplicate when the wet and dry seasons are. and yea, like i said keep note of your params and everything etc, i keep mine in a journal, so when i get it right, i will be able to refer back to it, aswell as knowing what doesnt work

That may or may not work. The Sterbai that are breeding have no change in water conditions, yet they only will breed during our fall/winter. Breeding has not been triggered by water changes, just an internal clock. Worth a try though.

dont think its that simple with the fish hes trying to breed. most the fish hes trying require a trigger of sorts

The internal clock is a trigger of sorts. There is nothing we can do to speed it up, nor reset the alarm. Just have to let nature do its own thing.

i've gotten pairing up of L239 with a dark tank and daily high water change...

thats before my power died while i was away and they all died on me
