well I doubt a single hiss would do it and I know there are reps out there that work well with people my point is that the hospital wants an organization to BACK the animals behavure and all of this needs to be set in place before hand.
With dogs....TDI has all of that covered already but with herps its a new area. Even other animals like miniture horses and such are only granted very limited access and then only with special restrictions.
Nursing homes have slightly less stringant regulations by the way. If none of the residents object or have special health problems you might manage to work something out with them but it would probubly be more in the nature of a presentation than anything else.
