Wasnt that caiman lizard that much? I think it said in your thread they were dear... Theyre well cool though! You could give them a drying out period technically, but it would be a lot more hastle than just keeping them seperatly...

Well looks like treefrogs then! I like the redeyes! There will be plenty of chance to get out of the water if they fall in as I want to plant some semi-aquatic plants like peace lillies, and some lilly pads...I was looking at the giant lillies in Kew...they inspired the design of the crystal palace!

Didnt think about dart frogs poisoning the water...boxfish do though...I thought dart frogs werent toxic in captivity unless they were fed a proper diet?

yeah, there will be cichlids, but mostly uaru and blue rams, might put my angels in...they hastle everything else when they pair but I am hoping there is enough space to eliminate that...

Also there will be pools with no fish.

Yeah, they prefer plants though, i keep mine with neons and they're fine! I'd be more worried about the angels...

If the tank is high enough and if you have plenty of branches and basking spots, I would say a pair of Basilisks might workout nicely.

Just looking at those Basilisks, they are nice... Do they need a drying out period, too? I'm a total noob with herps...Would they try to take the fish? There are pics of them swimming but cant see tham being that fast!

As for photos, this is all I've got at the minute! Theres going to be about 3-4ft of glass enclosure above it.... The builds got a thread in DIY.

I was reading about snakes and the site said that the common grass snake was a good begining snake. I know they like water as I see them in the lake. I know theyre not biotype, but lets face it any attempt to recreate the amazon in our front rooms is gonna be one hell of an approximation. I'm already using fish from several river systems as it is...as long as it looks jungly I'm happy. Do grass snakes need a drying out period? Cant see them getting one in England!

As for the poisonous newts/frogs, Total volume of water will be ~400 US gallons. Could they poison this volume?

A grass snake would eat your fish. They are similar in habit to garter and water snakes and routinely eat fish, frogs, tadpoles, etc.

I dont think a poisonous amphibian could poison 400 gallons. But that is FAR too big for the poisonous ones anyway, they would drown. An axolotl would work but will eat your small fish and will have its gills nipped. I think a basilisk would be great, how much land area is there, and how much vertical space?
