I've been in the midst of working on a new tank setup and going in a less aggressive route. My main fish will be satanoperca leucosticta, ebjd, a gold JD and a group of multispinosa, or thomasi. Size 110g
Doing some reading my Satanoperca should likely be my largest cichlid, and I don't find JD's to be aggressive at all if they don't have threats as far as tank makes. Currently my leucosticta just nudges a slightly smaller reg JD out of the way when it's perusing the sand. My JD eats mostly top level so there is never a food aggression even. Unless one of my little JD grow outs becomes a huge menace I could see this working. Is or would it be uncommon to only have 1 larger earth eater vs. the common 4-5 red heads? So far in my changing of the guard so to say everything is working out really well.
Anyone else's thoughts? Any treat earth eaters like vs. the open water feeders?
Thanks folks.
