Another trick that works is watching another fish eat whatever he's refusing usually that baits him in to try it but that's hard to pull off with real aggressive fish like dovii
Lol yeah, I am almost certain my dovii would tolerate another tank mate, but that is a good suggestion because I have used that method with my other fish.
Ive got a 19-20" monster dovii. He eats NLS 7.5 mm jumbo fish pellets. I also use freeze dried krill, nightcrawlers and tilapia fillet as treats.
Most of the time if you having problems getting him to.take a new food you will have to fast him for a day or two. Once hes good and hungry there is a better chance he will try them. Just keep trying and be patient he will grow to accept them.

Mines 8 or so .I do NLS pellets, but I do the starve till you eat what I give you method on all my fish. As treats Ill do earthworms, grasshoppers, & tilapia fillets once consistently eating pellets. I use a piece of driftwood with sand few little rocks, but thats more for me than anything. Unless you have just a monsterous tank probably the less décor the better at the size you have. IMHO of course
