I have three juvenile green spotted puffers in a 125g tank and I woke up this morning to a ungodly loud bang which I guess was my breaker box blowing up and almost setting my house on fire! So now I have no electricity in my house meaning I can't run any filtration, lights, or heater in my tank.... I noticed all three of the bottoms of my puffers are turning black and I was watching one of them and it did the oddest thing I have ever seen... It wrapped its tail on it's side and than started to just float and roll than sink to the bottom and than just went on with it's business!?!?!? Any suggestions of what I should do about no electricity for a couple of days and any clue what that puffer is doing? Thanks for the time!

Go grab some battery operated bubblers from academy or the like. Surface breakage will suffice in the meantime.

If you have means of doing partial water change with known good water supply then go that route as well. I would shut off whatever filters you have in the tank and give them a good cleaning in the meantime since with no electricity those things turn into waste bombs.

breaking the water surface when you do the water change helps a lot in gassing off co2. or just using a cup to dip and then pour back into the tank helps

I'd go rent a generator. I spent all night non-stop, lifting pitchers of water high over my tanks & pouring them in, the night we had no electricity. Still lost a few fish. Went out & rented a generator the next morning. Now I have a generator.

Well I freaked out on the electric company and they came and fixed my breaker box for free and credited my account! I'm so happy none of my fish died and everything is back up and running! Thank you guys for all the tips!

Wow, that's better service than I've ever had!

next time, tell the power company that you "woke up to a ungodly loud bang which I guess was my breaker box blowing up and almost setting my house on fire!".
They'll be at your door real quick.
