I only use a little food at a time, put it in a little jar and put the rest in a bag in the freezer. I dont really know if it keeps it that much fresher, but it seems like it would. I really dont feed much flake or pellet food, mostly homemade food that needs to be frozen anyway, so i am fairly sure most of my food is pretty fresh, and the fish seem to love it.
