My Plecs would eat all the expired cucumbers I could throw in there! I bet the Mollys do love it. They're herbivores and most people forget that and feed them flakes and pellets. They need veggies, expired or not.
and there awsome aglea scavengers to!! so intead of some kid wanting a common pleco for his small tank he should look into mollys ( male of course ) and offtopic but are ballon mollys sterile?

I use forks all the time, never had a problem.

just rinse the fork in cold water first if you want to be extra cautious, thats what i do just in case any residue remains.
yes leave it in overnight. any more and it goes all fuzzy.

Just a little something I found "FISH FOOD SOURCES NOT TO USE:

*Lettuce;
this is mostly cellulose and empty nutrition and worse lettuce is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria that can in turn cloud your aquarium and compete with fish for oxygen (many labs use lettuce for this).

*Bread; again mostly empty nutrition to fish (maybe not for humans, but as noted earlier fish get their energy primarily from fats). Also bread again will attract un wanted bacteria."

how long do i leave the lettice in the tank for? can i leave it in there overnight?

Never more than 24 hours. Over night is a great way to feed pleco's.
