Explosion of my Uruguay fish population

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think that yours are from Villa Constitucion (which is just south of Bella Union). I have 5 that I brought back from there that were basically one scoop of the net from a weedy area about a foot or so deep. When we collected them, they were small enough for 5 to fit into a single breather bag and live there for over a week. They're now getting to breeding size...and I need to separate them (or sell off the spare ones :) ).

I also have a big, what I think is a pair from La Pedrera (which is a park on the outskirts of Bella Union). I think Warren got the lunker male. My male's probably that big now and a really nice blue and green (less dark than the Constitucion ones) - he won 2nd in his class at ACA this year. I still have him divided from his female but maybe I'll let them mingle sometime soon.

Congrats!!! Those are gorgeous fish!!! Are they all in their own tanks? And if so what size?
Thanks,
Scott

Thank you. Yes they are all in their own tanks. The dimerus are in a 55 and the red ceibals a 20.
