External Pump Recommendations

I am getting a tank that is 96x30x42 with a center trap and my wet/dry is going to be
60x24x18. I am not really sure how big of a pump I am going to need. The guy making it says I should run a 1/2HP Tunze Wavemaster but I can't find one online any where. Also I think that is to big and it will use way to much electricty. I have been looking at the Sequence Reeflo pumps but I'm not to sure how good of a brand they are. So could someone give my a recommendationon what the size pump I would need, the best brand and most energy efficient.

Some recommendations I've gotten from people are Magdrive, dolphin, Iwaki (expensive), Turbo sea, there's one more but I forget the name.

Mag drive and quietone pumps seem to be the favorite for cost vs performance, and the power useage for quiet one pumps is hard to beat.
 
IWAKI! Best of the best. If you don't feel like spending that much, go for a mag drive.
 
Quietone > magdrive.
 
The guy making my tank is telling my to run a 1/2hp pump or at least 1/3hp (5000 GPH). Is he just trying to sell me a big pump or do I really need one that big. I have looked at some of the recommended pump and have only found a Dolphin pump that comes close to 5000GPH. I can't find any Quietone or magdrives that can pump that much.

For freshwater minimum is 3x IMHO.

My 265 and 300 are fairly heavily loaded and do perfectly with 3x per hour.
 
5-8x/hr I've heard is what you want when using a wet/dry I'm not sure how accurate that is though. Very little in fish keeping is certain, 3x would deffinatly save energy and pump costs, might be worth a shot unless ya stock heavy or plan to.


Off topic here, but has anyone noticed smaller tanks need higher turn over rates then say 240+ gallon tanks?
