Hello, I'm looking for a wet dry return pump for a 240 gallon FW tank with the following requirements
Flow~800-1200 gph
Inlet and out let are 1/4" or 1" will be fine
Low noise
Low wattage

I'm leaning toward Poseidon (I don't mind about the extra heat) because it's death silent but the 140 watt is a killer!

I have bad experience with iwaki, quiet one, gen-X because of the noise after about 6 months.

Can someone point out some other pump that i could used?

Also, there are something about the waterblaster pump anyone know more about this pump please post their experience. thanks

Take a look at the Tunze 1073.40 or 1073,20, they are new in the market and they are amazing, I've got the 1073.20 to replace my eheim 1260 and i tell you its a much better pump. I also have experience with panworld pumps and they are better then iwaki or genx with it comes to noyse but they are not dead silence like poseidon or tunze, good luck with your purchase

i like the mag drive, i own a mag drive 9.5 and mag 18. havnt had any problems with it.

the 9.5 is dead quiet the 18 is a bit louder. Also its easy to tell how much their pump can handle by their name. The 9.5 can handle about 950, mag 18 can do 1800gph

^^^ Thanks

This is what i got so far

1- Coralife Turbo Sea 1090
-1090 gph @ 0' , 835 gph @ 4' , 1" in and 1" out , 80 watts, 13' max head

2- Pan World 50px-x
-1110 gph @ 0' , 1" in and 1" out, 90 watts, 13' max head

3- Eheim 1262
-910 gph @ 0' , 700@4', 550@6', 1" in and 3/4" out , 80 watts, 12' max head

4- Poseidon ps3/ps4
#3- 720 gph @ 3', 3/4" in and out, 140 watts, 25' max head
#4- 1080 gph @ 3', 1" in and out, 140 watts, 18' max

If someone have been using one of the above pump please post your experience on how well do they works. thanks.

I have similar pumps except for the coralife, my panworld are 50px,100px and 150px, also have poseidon 3 and 4 and eheim 1260, 1262,1250 and recently i've got a tunze 1073.20, also have a mag7 and i had a quietone whitch was nothing but quiet. Ok this what i can tell about all these pumps, personally i like panworld bang for the money its well constructed powerfull and reliable, the 50 model their noyse level its aceptable even the 100 its not bad, but when it comes to the 150 they are noyse but remenber this are pressure pumps so the circulation should be a lot quiet, when it comes to electrecity consuption a think its average. Now poseidon very very quiet pump also a lot punch not as the panworld but uses more power and it will bring your tank temperature up about 3 degre, also very reliable pumps. The eheim very good pumps for circulation you can used them sumerge or dry, quiet but i think poseidon its better on that regard, so its all depend what its your aplication, i used the pressure on ocean clear, circulation on sump and eheim canisters, and one more thing the ps3 its pressure ps4 circulation. Finally as i said before i've got the tunze 1073.20, its a german pump very quiet uses very litle electricity and you can control flow excelent pump.

Thanks Rudy,
This pump i'm looking is to replace my md40, the fan is getting loud on this thing even after cleaning. Anyway, what i'm after now is the noise level and less than 100 watts. this will be for freshwater wet dry return for circulation of about 750-900 gph at 7' of head.

Is my 7' head calculation correct if I have the following in 3/4"
- 5' of hose going up from the pump, then a T adaptor leads to 2 of 4' of pipe each going to each end of the tank and a 90 elbow into the tank.

Silence 1073.040 is only good for 792 so is a no go.
I'm kind of leaning toward the coralife turbo sea 1090 for a couple reasons.
1- 80 watts
2- 13' of head and I will be need about 7' so that will be right in the middle which will be good for the pump and a happy pump makes less noise.

Only if i could more feedback about this particular pump would be nice. back to google for me :)
