It depends, He already has a Polleni. So does he only want the new one because its larger? If so I would keep the dat and just wait for your Polleni to grow.

Is your smaller polleni in better condition than the larger one? does it show good colours? If so why would you get another one? I had an indo dat that refused anything but live food, he was a complete pain and I kinda wish I didn't get him

Some good points here. I am not concerned about housing the new Polleni, I have kept them for years and they will be in separate tanks. My female polleni is spectacular and growing fast. My dat eats everything and anything now, pellets, shrimp, worms, etc. I guess the real situation is the Dat has became mean and is nailing the other fish he is kept with which happen to belong to my wife. The dat however is my two sons favorite fish and they are heartbroken at the thought of getting rid of him. I just have grown tired (after almost 20 years) of aggressive fish, and I don't currently have another tank large enough to house a full grown dat, but i can accommodate the polleni. I am most likely going to try for the trade today.

Eh..... I opted to keep the dat, My sons are just too attached to him. There is no way I could do that to them, and my wife was adamant that I would regret getting rid of him and she would have been correct. Besides I do believe I just would have gotten the polleni because of his size as Rafini called me out on!!! My female is already closing in on 6 inches already, I can try and be patient. This way I still have a dat and a polleni. I may just pick up some Ptychochromis Sp. "Nosy Be" and keep up with some more Madagascan cichlids.

Good choice, I hate aggressive fish now, I kept cichlids for so long that I just got sick of it. I have a peaceful predator community right now. My giant gourami was really aggressive until I added 11 tinfoil barbs now he is very peaceful

I agree with Miguel, it's obvious they polleni is a better choice.

Not really a better choice since he already has a pair that could produce many more, so the rarity point goes out the window.

I think he said that he decided not to go along with the trade.
