Extra males?

I just have a curious question. With all the advice about stocking rift lake cichlids with 1 male to several famales, what happens to all the extra males? Surely there aren't nearly enough all male tanks to take all these fish? Don't misunderstand me, I agree with this stocking advice. I just wonder where these males go.

You would be surprised how many people do all male tanks.

I often trade extra males to the lfs.Lots of people shopping at the fish store are just looking for pretty ones,not interested in females.Only get a few bucks store credit but its cool to have the fish store always owe me money instead of emptying my pockets there!

when I buy a group of juvies to breed (6-12) I take one male plus all the females in one tank and then I take one or two of the leftover males for my all male show tank, if I have any more males left over then I sell them or give them to my friends.

I'm not overly stocked with males...but then again two of mine terrorized the rest of the tank and killed off the other ones.
