Extreme Amazon Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would love to have tank that looks like that. especially making it seem like a tree rooting into the water and that weird green color. so pretty. reminds me of a video i saw once on the amazon and all those fish. looks just like that tnak.

i LOVE flowerhorns and hybrids and all, but why add a FH to that tank? it may look like a nice addition to someone who dont know better, but it dont belong in an amazing niche set-up like that one IMHO

still an amazing tank no matter what. its another of the many id trade my left family jewel for

The flowerhorn is outta place. Don't think much of hybrids, anyways.

to quote zoodriver and i quote '' it is only 26,000 gallons " i thought that is great, that tank is amazing

Haha, I didn't mean to make it sound small..... it's just a LOT of bioload in there, especially with a crocodilian living in the mix. They must have some major filteration going on to keep it clear. I've kept crocs and fish together. A few days after feeding, crocs dropped a bio-bomb like no other and the pH always dropped off if there wasn't a major backwash right away.

Won't argue about the need for excellent filtration, the tank has gotta have it. Even though the caimans aren't huge, they gotta be adding a ton of waste. I'm not sure what the bioload on the tank fish-wise is though. Ya never see a full shot of the tank to get any idea of stocking density. I suspect quite a few of the shots were at feeding time when the fish were congregated and that the bioload may not be as substantial as the pictures lead one to believe, and by looking at markings/scars quite a few of the pics are of the same fish.

BTW, I believe this is in a zoo in Germany, if I read the site correctly.
