If you will truly have a 1,000g tank...Mbu puffer! They get around 3ft, one of my dream fish . Depending on the size they are under $100 for juvies..maybe $50 or so.

wat makes people think gigas are so killer yes they will panic and jump if thier cornerd but so will most fish normaly thier pretty chilled theyll eat anythin that will fit in thier mouth but otherwise thier pretty similar to a dopey aro in the way they move except when feeding they wont try and attack you through the glass or anything

ropefish and bichirs are hardly dangerous aslong as it dosent fit in thier mouth i can pat mine
