got tired of the plastic kit lens so i'm picking up the awesome 18-200mm VR this weekend. and i'm trying to get rid of some fish for better glass. my goal is to get the following:

11-16mm f/2.8 (tokina)
105mm f/2 DC
70-200mm f/2.8

that should keep me busy for a while :)
:naughty:105mm f/2 DC:naughty:
Nice.....

Question: Why get the 70-200mm if the 18-200mm covers it all?

yeah but the 70-200mm is a high-speed beast with a wide open aperture of f/2.8 at all zoom ranges. i like doing some nature shots and car races like the american le mans. a fast lens is a must for the cars, and since i cant afford a 300 or 400m f/4, this will do :D

plus the 70-200mm is part of the nikon "trinity" set that is used with full frame cameras. so if one day i decide to go full frame, i'll already have one lens. ill just need the 14-24mm and the 24-70mm :)

the 18-200mm will be the practical everyday lens

incredible brenton! i sold my 18-55 right before my reverse ring adapter arrived. now i have nothing to shoot with lol :wall:

Ahh to bad. I look forward to the results with the new lenses when you get them.:headbang2

Headbanger...These were just shot on the bench(no box) with the speedlite attached to the camera. Holding it steady is the hard part. I am still waiting for the reverse ring to arrive. The box is a great idea though.

man you guys' pics are so damn clear! mine are super blurry. i twitch like a crackhead when shooting macro

used my nifty fifty to finally get a shot i'm somewhat pleased with. i really need to stop being lazy and set up my tripod for this stuff!!!

got a super noisy background, not sure why. any ideas?

EDIT:

hmm interesting. i just noticed that reducing the original file by 50% in microsoft picture manager gave it a bunch of noise. here's the same file at 75%, no noise
