extremely cloudy 180

Good thinking :-) Never believe what one or 2 people tell you. Get as many opinions as you can and feel comfortable about it in your own mind. I wish you all the luck with your fish.

thanks, i have seen a lot of bad advice given on this site, before someone who actually knows the answer can comment.
when i see that someone with 45 posts is telling me to drain my tank, i would rather wait an hour or two extra, until someone like you, or Dr. Joe can have a chance to help ...

Dr joe, the ball is in your court :naughty:

another thing ... if my other tanks (a 55 cichlid community, and 29g coldwater tank) are slightly cloudy (not as bad, and more up to date on w/c) how do i get them back under control without nitrites coming into play ??

twisted and dr joe, just tell me the % and frequency of water to change, and i will do it from now on like clockwork on all my tank :)

I can only tell you what I do and what works for me, there's too many variables. You have to be the judge by keeping tabs on your water tests. What works for you or someone else is going to be different. But my water's never cloudy, you can't even tell there's water in there. One example are my 2 125 g Oscar tanks, each has 2 Oscars in it. I do two 65% water changes a week, there's 2 AquaClear 110's and a Fluval FX5 on each that get cleaned out super well every 4th water change. Granted that's Oscars and they're big and messy. But my ammon/nitrites are always zero and nitrates don't go over 5 ppm. They get fed a total of 2 tsp pellets a day and a chunk of shrimp or a worm or a cricket a few times a week. That's just an example.
I bet if you feed lightly and do weekly 50% water changes on your 3 tanks (after the current problem is cleared up) you'd surely be able to keep water in great shape.

N2N -
My 2 cents worth........ I overfeed more than most and my water quality (clarity) will suffer if I don't do water changes with my drip system daily. The bacteria in your filters will be fine, just habitually change the water and cut down on feeding if necessary.

Post count doesn't mean "Jack" to me!

I was just trying to help. BTW, I have been keeping fish for over 20yrs. I just happened to find this site recently as I have just started getting my larger tanks running.

Good luck with your tank!

i was not trying to insult you, or say you didnt know what you were talking about.

i just prefer to get more than one opinion, because as you will come to notice on this site, there is often some bad advice given, and its usually from the first 3-5 responses. (and often from people who are newer)
the more people i can get to give me input, the better. once i get a consensus, and the best way to do the w/c, i will start doing them
