Extremely picky Fire Eel

Try market shrimp cut into small pieces. Most fire eels cant turn them down. Plus it is actually cheap when bought in bulk and as he grows you can load them with pellets. After I gave my big guy shrimp he wouldnt even look at worms again

I usually feed my spiny eels worms from Walmart in the fishing aisle/section, Red Trout Worms...it's 30 in a container for like $3.00 and the size is is pretty decent. It its too big cut it down it not just throw it in. Petsmart should carry llve worms as well since i use to live near a petsmart and i always buy worms from them to go fishing.

Hikari frozen bloodworms about $12.99 at the lfs buyit and stop being cheap

I have bought and tried those. He wont touch them, as stated in my earlier posts. I've spent quite a bit of money and effort trying to get him to eat different things. I'm going to be ordering a bulk of live blackworms for him here momentarily even. I don't know how I came off as being "cheap"

I had the same exact problem as you. Would suck in the red wigglers and spit them out. I tried frozen blood worms, frozen krill, and frozen black worms. All rejected. But then I tried live ghost shrimp and he really liked those. I now have him eating market shrimp and I recently discovered he likes frozen brine shrimp too. Try either of those two and I bet he will eat :) mine won't eat any kind of earthworm...

My TT eel only ate frozen bloodworms for nearly 3 years. Tried him on everything else we could think of and he would either completely ignore or try it then spit it out and sulk lol. Recently tried him with live river shrimp. Hes like a totally different animal! Slowly stalks them abd strikes really fast! A whole bag will keep him and his mates entertained for nearly an hour!

Just an update, I FINALLY got him to eat little shreds of defrosted shrimp, after figuring out that my mom's fire eel eagerly takes shrimp. He seems to love it and hasn't turned it down yet. I am so happy I found something he'll willingly take and keep down. Now to try some other kinds of shrimp
