Lol first thing that comes to mind seeing the pics is just the Jaws theme song. But yeah he definitely looks like he's growing up nicely. Interesting eye colors as well, wonder what all caused it.

I have seen black marking in eyes with yellow and white eyes.

Seems like some vieja do have blue eyes, may be this guy got those mixed with yellow eyes and I mistook those for pearls.
Quite possible. Lol ya never know with hybrids these days what traits will show and what ones won't. But I guess that the allure of em too is that ya just never quite know what you'll get. Either way he is looking very nice and seems to be getting a bit beefier as well.

Yep, true, I have seen so many things that are not present in pure species. Makes them interesting for us to be sure. He is doing pretty good now.

Yeah ik I'd love to see hybrids become more common of a thing in the hobby. Seen allot of interesting crosses on the web and always wondered why more ppl don't try to make their own unique hybrid species. Me personally I always wanted to try crossing a FH, festae and RTM see if I could get a fish with the body shape/pattern of the RTM mixed with the bright fiery red color of the festae and the pearls of a FH. Lol granted I'd need allot more tanks and space then what I have now to get it all even started.

But yeah your guy looks like he's growing up to be a good looking FH, really wide tail fin on him too. Kinda looks like his tail fin is developing a somewhat trident shape over time. It would be pretty neat to see if ya could get that to be a more normalized trait in future generations.

I guess there are multiple reasons, most guys like pure species, it took a while for flowerhorns to be popular, it would be hard to get trend going on for new species, so no one is motivated to put hard work needed to make such a hybrid. African cichlid hybrids are coming out now.
