Why would you keep an Oscar with a Front? Do you have children? Would you let them play with an alligator? Next time do some research before you just chuck incompatible fish together.
Yes I 3x this. Instead of getting frustrated and getting out of the hobby do some research and not mix fish that are not compatable with each other. Your Oscar is a South American fish while the front is from Lake taganyika in Africa.

oh man, the title got me. I thought it was eye for an eye. I was expecting to hear one fish killed another so he killed it.

If you liked the Frontoas so much why not make it a nice peaceful colony tank.
I really don't care for any cichlids besides, Frontosa and Peacock Bass. Lose the remainder of the cichlids and your hobby can be so much more rewarding.

BTW it's LOSE!

i dont know oscars are known for usually being peaceful despite their size. if you kept a front with a devil, midas, flowerhorn, buttikoferi, jag, dovi, etc...then.............
True, however, we are talking about two fish with very different needs and very different temperments. Usually Oscars are pretty tame, sometimes they are aggresive, depends on the fish.

I hear what you folks are saying and I agree for the most part. I was mostly venting! I know about the risks. The Frontosa was basically 2 for ten bucks at a LFS that didnt know what it was(there were actually 2 that I bought) I put it in the tank and the Oscar left them alone for nearly 2 yrs. In all honesty I'm not even 100%(98%) sure the Oscar killed it. I saw a quik snap from the Oscar and the Frontosa started to breath very rapidly and then died.

I keep the Oscar because I'm attached to it. As far as research goes I dont think its fair to assume I dont know about the risks in keeping different species from different parts of the world together. There are Salveni, Johanni, Labidochromis, a RedTail Botia, a couple Peacocks..just to name a few..I've never had a problem. They have all lived together for a long time. The Oscar doesnt even eat the occasional fry from the occasional breeding that happens.

My point is, it sure does bum me out sometimes, Mother Nature that is...If I could have two dozen tanks each filled with a different species I would probably want two more dozen.
We often forget the life that goes on in our tanks. Who knows, maybe the Front had it comm'n!
Thanx for the responses!!:)

I keep a community of fish from all parts of the world together, but I would not an keep an O with a front. Needless to say, if my aro decides to eat some loaches or kill some fronts, I could not blame my aro, only myself.
