That's a spectacular specimen. I'm no polypterus guy, but it looks to me as though she has a bit of trouble finding sufficient food. Seems a bit emaciated...
I can't tell from the pics; did this fish begin life with a normal pair of eyes, lose them to some trauma and then heal up this completely? Or is it some genetic anomaly that was born eyeless?
And another question: is it common for a poly this size and age to still have such pronounced external gills?
