or at least pick up a cheap 10gal tank from walmart for about $12, more water, and you can spot illness quickly.
Agree.
Look on craigslist for filters. When you find a big HOB,get it.You could probably get a bigger tank on craigslist too.

Aren't Prazipros pricey?

Replaceing a prized pet's pricier ;)

but I agree w/ pretty much all the advise. If feeders are going ot be a long term part of your pets diet. spend a couple bucks, set-up 2-3 QT tanks and do it "right" or as safe as possible. feeders are kept in deplorable conditions generally, giving them a well maintained body of water, and a few weeks of good food, flushing them of parasites, ect.. Goes a long way toward the health of your pets. depending what your feeding, earthworms from a reputable source may make a better option for live foods. Or simply home-breeding your own. but a 5 gal bucket and a week of QT w/ meth blue imo is only slightly better then dumping the feeders straight from the store into your tank. Everyones gonna have different oppinions but for me personally 1st week pima/mela fix the batch 2nd week prazi-pro 3rd week nothing. I feed 2x a day a good quality flake and do 25% WC's weekly to bi-weekly depending on the amount of feeders/type. and home breed guppies, mollys, platies to suppliment. I'm probably more of an extremist in how I QT my feeders, but I've had one internal parasite issue. And one needle nose fish who stubbornly refuses to do anything more w/ pellets then play with them.. :irked:

Just grab jungle labs parasite clear, has both those meds in it. Can get 100 tabs for around $25. 1 Tab treats 10 gallons. Or you could go for the smaller package. You may have to do more frequent WCs or risk losing lots of feeders.

Ive kept about a dozen of goldfish at a time in a gallon container and they lived but some died here and there. And sometimes the whole batched died next day. So all those feeders in that small of water, the water will get very toxic very fast. You are probably better off getting atleast a 10 gallon tank with a sponge filter.

So what would be the safe time frame to Medicate till using them as feeding time?

2 weeks roughly?

2 weeks should be an acceptable time frame. If the batch was clean and healthy to start. I like to add a week to any batch that was even questionable from the first day they where "good". Most my feeders double in size during my QT process. feeding them well 'n keeping them in optimal conditions feasable will cut down on losses and significantly lower disease manifestation.

i always quarantined for a month when i did live feeders, but that's just me, plus it really does make a difference in the size of the feeders as mentioned above.
