They are very tough on each other and not an easy sp. to spawn. I think that's why there aren't too many around. Hopefully with this last batch of Wild stock that JoeFatFish collected they will be around for a while.;)

bah! canons are crap!! no, i'm kidding. i would of guessed a nikon d60 or d90 or something. i just think that it's funny that there are so many amazing species of fish that are rarely seen in the hobby or at least in pictures are on here. again, great pictures and fish.

Awesome George! Your gonna have a full blown Istlanum production plant soon with all the WC F0 pairs I just shipped you! Hopefully these the Rio Amacuzac variety will stay in the hobby as it is looking pretty bleek for them in the river. This time still plenty green terrors with them, Convicts and this one is really bad...Plecos. Breed em, spread them everywhere and then breed them some more.

Man I wish my fish have a fry like yours all the time!

Wow nice pictures and fish.
Sometime Id love to see a video tour of your stuff!

Maybe Im thinking way too hard about this but...
Why collect a species from an area you know their existance hangs in the balance?
Can it really be that bleek?

It's cool. I think way to hard, because they will disappear even without collecting them. I am not getting rich or really making anything on this. I have my day job, I own my biz, I care about the things going on around the world that are driving native species to extinction. I love CA cichlids, I get to collect what I and others want. Everything is headed towards extinction. Human waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste, lack of rain, pesticides, exotic introductions. If not for many Collectors here, many will disappear. They are not on the redlist or considerd endagerd, but everything will eventually head there, not by mine or anyone elses collecting, the #'s we take and the amount of collecting trips is to small to create a significant impact, if anything that will keep them going longer. maybe take a trip someday to a river where CA cichlids are from and see for yourself. Plecos have been introduced into some systems in CA and Mexico, and everthing but the plecos have disappeared. Take a trip to the ACA one year, go to one of the seminars and see what is happening to all the habitats. When I was studying biology, every envirnmental impact study we did showed less and less in species population #'s, due to waste and exotic introductions. But whatever, going off thread subject. Take it how you wish.

We are lucky that Joe makes the effort to go and collect these fish while they are still around. Due to the fact that the water is so contaminated in their natural environment and that so many different non-native species have been introduced into that system, who knows how long these fish will be around. Spread them around and hopefully we will keep them in the hobby for a while!
Thanks Joe!!
