f0 oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"wild type" is a term used to describe fish that are the colors they are in the wild...

This has at times been miused to suggest that "Wild Type" colored fish are "Wild Caught" fish...

Also, since just abotu anyone can slap the "F0" label on a tank and charge extra... we have to guard ourselves against false claims...

So it's important to make sure we trust our source... and that their source is trustworth...

There is no way I / we can tell if your fish is wild caught or not... And I'm not trying to challenge the claim by your LFS... you seem to trust them...

Very nice looking O. I have had 5 wild caught oscars all from rapps, 2 coloumbian and 3 peruvian. I donated one columbian to the newport aquarium because it and the other columbian were going at it way too much and I was tired of dividing them and swithching tanks, i really didnt want to get rid of that one he was a good 15 inches. Sadly one of the peruvians died just before it was gonna spawn with the columbian at about 12 inches. But in regards to the question they are oscars none the less but they have much more saw like teeth and are more aggressive as any fish from the wild will most likeley be. Their skin looks very smooth hence i guess is the reason their nickname the velvet cichlid, they also can change colors very very fast. They do seem to get a little bigger as the one i donated above was around 15 inches and the one I have now is roughly 14 and is about 2 years old. It wasnt very hard to switch them to pellets as their main food source, but they did grow up with some captive bred oscars and cichlids that I had already so that may have made it a little easier. i would reccomend them to anyone with the room great fish. sorry for the long read
