Well considering it was Siam Stingrays that posted it on Facebook, I'd say pretty much for sure Thailand. Would also make it likely to be a Himantura as stated by zoodiver.

Disk shape still doesn't match up on that one either. I had seen it on Facebook several days ago and didn't think anything of it till a friend from Thailand texted me the picture. Again he is from Thailand and is a ray guy and has no clue what species it is. Don't think it was Siam Stingrays that posted it.

I may be wrong about Thailand then as it was only yesterday that Siam posted it. But I'm pretty certain it's a Himantura Uarnak ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1397343549.775226.jpg

This is a real puzzler as already pointed out the disc shape is round...or certainly appears to be, I have never seen this in an Asian species. Is it possible the fish was imported to Thailand in the same way as all the Redtail Cats, Tiger Shovelnoses, Pacu, Arapaima..etc etc for the pleasure of big game anglers (Fishermen), Thailand has many waters stocked with none indigenous species now for this very reason. The Pattern on this fish doesn't match anything I have seen coming out of South America, certainly not in this size range.
Could it be a man made hybrid produced in Thailand then introduced to these lakes and rivers? Could it be a hybrid between a South American ray and an Asian species? Whatever it is its puzzling me,could even be from an estuarine locality, this ray could be a Marine creature, many of those have round discs similar to the South American Potamotrygon.
