Facetum, Chanchito, Chameleon cichlid info and availability?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We got in facetum a few weeks ago maybe 20 and i grabbed a few to try and get a pair, at that point in time right before i got them i had never heard of them

My guess would be oblongus, but it's really hard to tell and this group is undergoing a lot of taxonomic revision.

Here's an article about three new species of "chanchitos"... not including sp. "local" or "Red Ceibal":

Here are some pictures of my sp. "Local": http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158977

My biggest male seems to have maxed out at about 5"...while the females are slightly smaller.

I'm a bit confused as to which species is which. Are these facetus or oblongum?

In any case, there are 7 of them sharing a 30 long. A pair has taken over the sunken ship ornament in the middle, but not so much as a split fin among the group so far. With a bit of luck there will soon be fry.

Spencer Jack has some coming in this saturday, just thought I would let everyone know as I came across this message.

Australoheros n. sp. red ceibal - Another first time for F1s from my collection, this is easily the most amazing fish of its genus. Like mini festae! (pics are on my website of my wild adult breeders)
